WASHINGTON - The World Bank's Board of Directors has
approved a $ 195 million grant to support Pakistan in improving
electricity supply and implementing energy sector reforms to increase customer
service.
The World Bank has stated that the Electricity
Distribution Efficiency Improvement Project (EDEIP) will help companies that
distribute the Electricity Improvement Improvement Project (EDEIP)
improve their efficiency in managing their electricity supply more efficiently
and increase reliability of the grid.
“It focuses on cost-effective interventions to increase
revenue collection and reduce losses, as well as modernize jobs by hiring
technology and information systems. The plan will also invest in
climate-resilient infrastructure, especially grid stations and transmission
lines, which are critical to the distribution and use of resources. ”
.
EDEIP is accompanied by continued support from the
World Bank's energy sector, which includes a transmission network, renewable
energy production, and reforms through the Pakistan Prices for Energy and Clean
Energy (PACE), which focuses on improving its financial performance and
transition to low-carbon power. The project will increase the reliability of
electricity services for users of the residential, agricultural, commercial and
industrial sectors in project areas, and will contribute to reducing carbon
emissions, he added.
